Review:

Director Sam Hargrave returns to offer even more mayhem in his follow-up sequel to Extraction (2020).

Extraction 2 brings the same levels of intensity to the action sequences. This is further demonstrated by Chris Hemsworth’s suitability as an action star.

One of Extraction 2’s earlier sequences, for example, involves a prison infiltration. This soon escalates into an all-out brawl.

Aside from its impactful choreography, this sequence has steady camera work and precise angles.

Extraction 2 does not relent from this point onwards, leading to a high-speed chase and a train sequence.

This film's action is as entertaining as the first entry. As a result, it includes many standout sequences.

Extraction 2's characters remain basic. Despite this basic approach, it provides more development in certain areas.

Chris Hemsworth’s Tyler Rake isn’t offered much more character development. Despite this, the actor does well with the material.

Golshifteh Farahani’s Nik Khan also has more development in this film. This development involves her brother, Yaz (Adam Bessa).

Giving Nik further development gives her character more purpose. She is also used well during several action sequences.

Extraction 2's main antagonist, Zurab Radiani, is a step up from the previous entry.

Actor Tornike Gogrichiani portrays Zurab as a cold, relentless mercenary. This makes his final confrontation with Tyler Rake more satisfying.

In other areas, such as its visual style, Extraction 2 is also good.

As a whole, this film fails to reach the heights of the first Extraction’s vibrant locals. Still, it has some good shots that will please Extraction fans.

Alex Belcher and Henry Jackman’s soundtrack is also above average. With it, they add some thrills to the action sequences.

This film’s plot also presents a similar tone to that of its predecessor.

Certain scenes, for example, are slow-paced, acting as a way to build up to the action sequences.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, Extraction 2 offers the same non-stop action that fans should expect.

Each action sequence is entertaining, providing action fanatics with many highlights throughout.

Extraction 2 doesn’t offer many improvements, although its incremental changes are welcome.

Golshifteh Farahani’s Nik Khan, for example, has more purpose in the sequel. This contributes to Nik’s brother Yaz, who acts as a secondary character.

Chris Hemsworth’s Tyler Rake also has more development related to his family in this film. This is a quality that fans of his character will appreciate.

Extraction 2’s main antagonist, Zurab Radiani, is also good. Tornike Gogrichiani displays the ruthlessness of his character well.

This film's plot does take time to establish certain characters and their motives.

Extraction 2 also has good visuals, providing the usual location shots.

Despite not being as eye-catching as the previous film, they are good regardless.

Alex Belcher and Henry Jackman’s soundtrack provides further excitement yet again.

Extraction 2 is an entertaining film when it focuses on its action sequences.

It's a film that should be more than enough to please Chris Hemsworth or action-thriller fans.
